Phoenix Parent Coaching Social Skills Groups are based on easy to use, concrete concepts to decode social situations in a format that is clear cut and practical. Below are examples of topics that we will cover.
Elementary Students
- Learn to read facial expressions
- How to enter and exit social situations
- Ways to handle winning and losing
- Answer the question, what’s more important people or things?
- What are “unspoken rules” and why do they exist?
- How to decide who is a “Looker, Listener or a Toucher”?
Middle School Students
- Why do friends’ matter?
- Why don’t I have as many friends as other kids?
- How do I get friends?
- What if I want a boyfriend or a girlfriend?
- How do I handle “hanging” out with friends or sleepovers?
- Why are there different rules for online friends?
High School Students
- Do you want friends?
- Friendship skills are life skills
- Why are there different rules for online friends?

Improved Academic Performance
The goal is to help kids who are black and white thinkers “uncover” social cues; things other kids pick up naturally, but our kids miss.
Social skills are Executive Function Skills. These social skills groups can be helpful for kids with ADD / ADHD, Anxiety, High Functioning Autism (ASD), etc.
There will be Change Strategy Assignments to practice skills in between groups. To help with motivation, there will be a small reward for anyone who practices Change Strategy Assignments for all 6 sessions. Parents will be given a copy of the topics, to help support the Change Strategy Assignments and promote success.
